About Class Insecta
Class Insecta is facilitated by me — Kinsey Mustafa-Widberg. I am a local naturalist, artist and wildlife educator in the Greater Boston area with over 10 years experience in the nonprofit sector developing and executing educational programming for the public. I work as a teacher naturalist with Mass Audubon, and as a program coordinator on the Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park with Boston Harbor Now. I designed and facilitated events and initiatives such as the Science in the Park series on Spectacle Island, the annual SPECtacular Pollinators festival, library programs, public lectures, and a vast array of other events.
I am passionate about insect education because though they are at the foundation of our ecosystems and crucial to the health of our planet, insects are one of the most misunderstood and disdained wildlife groups. Often ignored in conservation conversations, even many nature enthusiasts have limited understanding of these animals. This project seeks to change that one person at a time through art, the outdoors, and public education.
My dream is for the truth about insects to become common knowledge. To live in a world where their value is understood and their lives are respected. Come join me on a guided program, do bug art with me, or shop with me at a market to help this pupal dream eclose into a brilliant imago of reality.
